News from the Trap Lines

The new trap line from Lakehead to swing bridge, swing bridge to Coldwater is now operating and was checked on 13th January. The Coldwater line had catches of 4 stoats and 1 rat.

This trap line is part of the Te Whakarauore Whio Friends of Rotoiti project. We have extended the DOC trap line of 30 double set traps and added another 70 double set traps to a total of 100. The coordinator for this line is Butch Goodwin.

Trapping is operating as usual on all other lines. Catches are low - with stoats and possums making up most of the catches.

The new T Rex traps and boxes are being installed along the Village Lines.
